Measurement task

Industrial power supply testing should distinguish voltage and current signals at the input, conversion stage and output. Steady-state observation, load-change recording and switching waveform analysis have different measurement requirements. First identify whether the focus is operating range, ripple or dynamic behavior to choose suitable probes and acquisition methods.

Selection considerations

The current chain must account for DC and AC components and sensor response range. The voltage chain requires checks of differential and common-mode conditions. Evaluate probe attenuation, oscilloscope input and connection accessories together. Long-term recording also requires attention to sensor power, installation format and data acquisition interfaces.

Small ripple on a large DC level

A power supply output may contain a large DC operating level and small ripple at the same time. Distinguish whether the goal is to record total current or only the AC component, and check whether noise and sensitivity allow the target changes to be resolved. Load-switching tasks also need a sufficient record window; fast-switching measurements require a separate check of probe and instrument dynamic response.
