Measurement task

Battery charge and discharge testing focuses on DC current, bus voltage and how they change with operating conditions. Electric drive testing also requires observation of phase currents and switching waveforms. Signals differ between measurement points, so sensor selection should begin with the measured quantity and distinguish continuous recording, power analysis and transient observation.

Selection considerations

Continuous DC measurement requires attention to the sensor’s DC response, offset and temperature effects. Switching measurements require bandwidth, dynamic range and interchannel timing to be considered. Voltage measurement also requires checks of common-mode conditions and isolation requirements so that probe outputs, acquisition inputs and analysis objectives remain aligned.

Battery cycling and electric drive switching waveforms

Battery charge and discharge records must retain the DC component; conventional AC Rogowski coils cannot perform this task. For inverter phase-current ripple and switching behavior, select frequency response according to waveform duration and rate of change. When using voltage and current channels for power analysis, include channel timing differences in the assessment to avoid mistaking probe delay for behavior of the equipment under test.
